The Boise City Council cleared the way for another residential development in the heart of the city. The building will be the third from a Los Angeles-based developer.
A rendering of the latest mixed use building from LA developer Local Construct shows a white, Z-shaped building sitting between Broad and Myrtle at 4th Street.
The Boise City Council rezoned the section of downtown where the 8-story building will go from residential office to central business district. The building already passed a review by the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission and was unopposed by the public.
The Cartee is a follow up property to Local Construct’s first and second residential downtown offerings: The Watercooler and The Fowler. According to the Idaho Press, the new building will have shops at street level, several floors of parking, and be crowned by 160 residential units.
Boise Mayor Dave Bieter says he’s shocked by the number of apartments and condos going in south of the city’s core in an area that’s been christened the LIV District.
Along with the Cartee, the Broad Street neighborhood will see another mixed use project rise up. A two-tower complex featuring a sky bridge got the green light from the city council in July. A new hotel is also slated to break ground in the area in the fall.
