Idaho voters sent a clear message to policymakers when they struck down a trio of education laws last November. Those laws known as “Students Come First” would have increased technology in classrooms, limited collective bargaining rights for teachers and more.
KBSX News hosted a community conversation Tuesday about the future of Idaho’s education system. Education reporter Adam Cotterell along with Morning Edition host/senior editor Scott Graf lead the informal discussion with education experts Jennifer Snow, Brian Conin and Rep. Reed DeMordaunt (R-Eagle).
Snow is Professor in Curriculum, Instruction, & Foundational Studies as well as Teacher Education Coordinator for Boise State University’s College of Education.
DeMordaunt represents District 14 in the Idaho Legislature and is chairman of the House Education Committee. He supported the Students Come First legislation when it was passed in 2011.
Cronin is a former state legislator who opposed the Students Come First laws in the 2011 and 2012 legislative sessions.
