It’s college graduation season and some of Idaho’s four-year state schools will soon hand out a record number of degrees.
Among Idaho’s four-year public colleges and universities, 7,209 students will graduate over the next two weeks.
Idaho State University has the most grads this spring with 2,561 statewide. That’s up more than 100 from last year and a record for the school. Commencement is Saturday in Pocatello with a ceremony for the 253 grads of the Meridian campus Monday.
ISU does not have a winter commencement. That means Boise State University gives out the most total degrees. Boise State expects to award degrees to 2,383 students this spring. Its graduation ceremony is Saturday.
A university spokesman says the total is a spring record. A record number of students also graduated last December. Between winter and spring, Boise State will graduate between 4000 and 4100 students.
Lewis-Clark State College is also breaking its record for graduates with 792 students getting LCSC degrees this spring. That’s 99 more than its previous record set in 2012. Its ceremony is May 15. LCSC doesn't have a winter commencement but 234 students graduated after its fall semester.
The University of Idaho, however, has fewer grads this spring with 1,536 students graduating statewide. That’s down from last spring’s class of 1,715. Commencement is May 16 in Moscow. U of I had 747 graduates last winter.
