On the opening day of Idaho's legislative session, people navigating around the capitol city are experiencing a winter wonderland. Fresh snow blankets Boise, making roads dangerous for the evening commute.
The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a winter weather advisory for much of southwest Idaho. The advisory will be in effect until 8:00 p.m.
The Boise School District has canceled evening classes, and the College of Western Idaho's campus is closed.
The weather service predicts slick and dangerous roads during the evening commute throughout the Treasure Valley. Poor driving conditions will continue throughout the night as temperatures hover below freezing. Motorists are advised to use caution and to be prepared for limited visibility.
But the snow has brought good news to Bogus Basin, where today's precipitation has added about three inches to the slopes.
