As the population booms in southwestern Idaho, federal and state agencies are proposing to raise Anderson Ranch Dam by six feet.
The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and the Idaho Department of Water Resources say the move would boost the dam’s storage capacity by 29,000 acre-feet.
To raise the dam, the Bureau of Reclamation must complete an environmental impact study, which will cost $6 million.
When the project was first proposed in 2016, the estimated cost was $31 million.
A public meeting will be held Wednesday, August 28 at the Wyndham Garden Inn in Boise from 6 to 8 p.m. More information can be found here.
