At least one member of Idaho's legislative delegation in Washington D.C. says he won't be supporting President Donald Trump's American Health Care Act.
Released by Republican lawmakers earlier this week, the new health care act is the much vaunted and long awaited replacement of former President Obama's healthcare law: the Affordable Care Act.
In a release, Representative Raul Labrador says he was sent to Washington, in part, to get rid of Obamacare. Now, with Republican lawmakers putting forward their alternative, Labrador says he can't get behind the legislation. The congressman's statement doesn't go into detail about why he opposes the American Health Care Act, but he says he's hopeful he can negotiate with the president and House Republicans.
Labrador writes he wants to repeal and replace Obamacare with something that allows the market to deliver lower costs and focus on patients. He does not believe the American Health Care Act delivers those results.
The act is opposed not only by Democrats but some Republicans as well.
