Friday Is The Deadline To Sign Up With Idaho's Health Insurance Exchange

Your Health Idaho

Friday is the last day to sign up for a health plan under Idaho’s insurance exchange.

Last year, open enrollment for plans under the Affordable Care Act lasted until the end of January. But this year, the Trump Administration cut the enrollment season in half.

Pat Kelly is the Executive Director of Idaho’s exchange, known as Your Health Idaho. Despite the shorter sign up period, he says it hasn’t affected how many people have enrolled.

“We’re over 92,000 people this week and we expect that to grow, which is above our expectation and just a little bit above last year, so we’re really excited about the results so far,” says Kelly.

Another big win, Kelly says, is that those who signed up for a plan last year are coming back in droves.

“Well we’re seeing about 85 percent retention and that’s very high and higher than last year and we’re excited about that,” he says.

Your Health Idaho has extended its hours tonight until 7 p.m. Kelly says they expect a lot of people to sign up at the last minute.
