BOISE, ID – Idaho Senator Nicole LeFavour says she won’t run for another term. She represents Boise’s District 19 and is the only openly gay member of the Idaho Legislature. The Democrat says Idaho is a tough place to be in the minority. She points to last year’s legislative session when she campaigned against changes to public education and cuts to Medicaid.
Nicole LeFavour “It is very hard to be a part of a body that continually does so much harm. I’m not a person who doesn’t take these things to heart, you know, and one heart can only take so much of it. You kind of need to have fresh blood now and then, because there are some days it’s very hard.”
LeFavour’s been in the Legislature since 2004. She’s served two terms in the House and two terms in the Senate.
After LeFavour said she was leaving, Representative Cherie Buckner-Webb announced she would run for the District 19 Senate seat. LeFavour offered her endorsement to Buckner-Webb.
