The federal Transportation Security Administration is implementing more rigorous screening procedures for electronics at small airports across Idaho.
Passengers intending to take their electronics into the cabin with them will have to put all devices bigger than a cellphone into separate bins when putting their carry-on items through the X-ray machine.
According to the Times News, the new rules are being put in place at the airports in Hailey, the Magic Valley and Pocatello. The TSA says the more stringent screening process will help them get clearer pictures of devices.
The Department of Homeland Security announced in July the new procedures would be phased in over several months.
Due to a possible rise in the number of bag checks, passengers traveling through the Magic Valley or Pocatello airports are encouraged to arrive 90 minutes before departure. Those flying through Hailey are advised to get to the airport a full two hours before their flight leaves.
