City of Boise officials will not charge a former Boise State football player in connection with a recent on-campus assault.
Jace Richter, a former freshman safety for the Broncos, won’t face misdemeanor or felony charges after a fellow student accused him of assaulting him in a dorm room in October.
In a written statement, the Boise city attorney’s office said, “The evidence does not support misdemeanor prosecution.”
The Idaho Statesman reports the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office also declined to file felony charges against Richter in November.
Boise State spokesman Greg Hahn says an investigation found both students were responsible for the incident. Neither is currently enrolled at the school, though Hahn didn’t specify whether disciplinary actions were taken, citing privacy concerns.
Ben Taylor filed a lawsuit days after the alleged assault, claiming Richter repeatedly punched him until he lost consciousness. Taylor says he suffered head injuries and a broken nose and wrist in court documents.
Taylor’s lawyer says the lawsuit is still ongoing.
