Singer Michael Penn Travels to '1947'

Since his astounding success in 1990 with the song "No Myth," singer/songwriter Michael Penn has enjoyed a devoted following. His new album, Mr. Hollywood Jr., 1947, takes a look at post-World War II America.

Penn's career has taken interesting twists and turns over the years, sometimes intersecting with the world of Hollywood. While his brothers Sean and Chris have pursued acting, Michael Penn has worked with director Paul Thomas Anderson, writing music for several of his movies, including Hard Eight and Boogie Nights. He also wrote the score for the independent film Melvin Goes To Dinner.

His music has also led Penn to collaborate with notable names like Aimee Mann and Liz Phair. But for Mr. Hollywood Jr.,, Penn produced the record himself.
