Dan Wilson: From Semisonic to Solo

Dan Wilson is best known as the primary singer and songwriter for the Grammy-winning rock band Semisonic ("Closing Time"). Perhaps realizing his natural songwriting talent, Wilson began to lend his songs to other artists, most notably the Dixie Chicks; his collaboration on the band's 2006 album, Taking the Long Way, won a Grammy for Song of the Year, for the hit "Not Ready to Make Nice."

Wilson released his debut solo album, Free Life, late last year. It's a careful mix of Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, and The Beatles that combines graceful melodies with a pure pop sound.
