Sarah Jaffe: 'Suburban' Serenade

After drawing praise for her 2008 EP Even Born Again, Sarah Jaffe has taken her music to a new level. Brimming with beautiful instrumentation, Suburban Nature -- Jaffe's full-length debut -- is an intimate folk record that sounds at once familiar and modern, haunting and delicate, with phrasing that resonates with the heart and the head. This is definitely an artist on the rise.

Jaffe recently stopped by KUT's Studio 1A with her band: Robert Gomez on electric guitar, Scott Danbom on piano, Jeff Ryan on drums and Becki Howard on violin. Jaffe discussed the challenge of conjuring emotion multiple times a day, what her Texas hometown of Denton is really like, and what she learned from playing with Norah Jones.
