The body of a missing Idaho hiker has been recovered.
Officials say 25-year-old Lucas Richardson was located Wednesday on the Devil's Bedstead Mountain in the Kane Creek Drainage. His body was recovered Thursday morning. Sheriffs in Blaine and Custer counties announced the news on Facebook.
Richardson failed to return from a mountain climbing trip on September 14. A search ensued but was called off by law enforcement officials a week later. Family and friends opted to continue looking for Richardson on their own.

“On October 14th, 2015 Custer County Sheriff’s office was informed by Blaine County Sheriff’s Office that the body of 25-year-old Lucas Richardson had been located on the Devil’s Bedstead Mountain in the Kane Creek Drainage.
Lucas Richardson had been reported overdue from a mountain climbing trip on September 14th, 2015. Custer County and Blaine County Search and Rescue conducted search operation in the Kane Creek drainage, Summit Creek trail and surrounding mountains for over a week with no signs of Richardson.
Custer and Blaine County Sheriff’s Offices concluded the search operation on September 21st, 2015. The Richardson Family with the overwhelming show of support by volunteers continued the search operations in the area.
On October 14th, 2015 Sawtooth Mountain Guides hired by the Richardson Family located the body of Lucas Richardson on a technical section of rock on the northwest ridge of the Devils’ Bedstead.
Custer County Sheriff’s Office and Custer County Search and Rescue working with 2 bear from Kalispell, Montana and Sawtooth Mountain Guides recovered the body of Richardson on October 15th, 2015. Cause of death is under investigation by the Custer County Sheriff’s Office.
