Idaho Food Bank Kicking Off Renovations For New Hunger Relief Facility

idahofoodbank.org

The Idaho Food Bank is kicking off renovations Tuesday, July 21, on a warehouse it bought last year in Meridian.

The 102,000-square-foot building means more space for food storage and distribution. It will also add teaching kitchens, office space, and a volunteer center.

The building purchase and these renovations total $13.2 million. The nonprofit has raised 65% of that amount, but still needs to raise an additional $8.8 million.

In a press release, the Idaho Foodbank said the expanded services are now even more necessary due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Before the pandemic, one in nine individuals were facing food insecurity in Idaho. Now, that number is projected to be one in six.

You can RSVP here to stream the groundbreaking on Facebook and Youtube Tuesday, July 21, at noon.
