Gov. Otter plans to work from home during the next couple of weeks while he recovers from surgery.

Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter is resting after a total hip replacement surgery. Otter was expected to have his hip resurfaced.

Otter's spokesman Jon Hanian says surgeons discovered the 72-year-old governor's hip had deteriorated too much, and needed to be replaced.

Lt. Gov. Brad Little remains Idaho's acting governor.  Hanian says the soonest Otter will resume power will be Wednesday, depending on how the governor's recovery is progressing.

Otter will remain in the hospital several days.
