If you’ve been in downtown Boise on a Friday or Saturday night, you may have seen – or heard – cars cruising on Main and Idaho streets. Modified mufflers and blasting stereos are pretty hard to miss, after all.

But according to a press release from the Boise police department, the drivers could be fined for being too loud.

One block over from Main Street, staff at the Modern Hotel say their guests have complained about late-night sleep interruptions. City law prohibits devices that amplify sound more than 100 feet from its source.

Boise police will begin stepping up enforcement this weekend. Noise fines can cost between $65 and hundreds of dollars.
