Republican Congressman Raul Labrador (R-Idaho) has launched a new TV campaign commercial.

The 30-second TV spot begins with the story of Labrador being raised by a single mother. He says his mom – who held two or three jobs at times – taught him the value of public service.

“She always told me I had a moral responsibility to give back, it’s one of the reasons I’m in public service," says Labrador in the ad. "We have a government that continues to make it difficult for individuals to achieve their dreams. I still think the American Dream is possible.”

The ad, which is his first since he won his seat six years ago, is being aired across Idaho's 1st Congressional District.

According to the Spokesman Review, the Republican didn’t buy TV ad space in 2012 and 2014 because it was too expensive. Labrador, who took office in the wave of Tea Party politicians from 2010, is running against Democratic challenger and Boise attorney James Piotrowski.

Labrador made news Tuesday when he reiterated his support for presidential nominee Donald Trump, while blasting him for his sexually charged remarks in a now-infamous video released last week.
