Gov. Elect Brad Little will be sworn into office on Friday at the Capitol.

This weekend will be an eventful one for Idaho politics as the Idaho Republican Party hosts a variety of inaugural festivities in Boise.

The Idaho Republican Party’s inaugural festivities will kick off Friday morning, and although many of the events this weekend will cost money to attend, the public can also get involved and attend some of the happenings without breaking the bank.

Anyone can attend the inauguration on the Capitol steps where Gov. Elect Brad Little and the constitutional officers will be sworn into office. An open house of the Capitol will follow.

Mary Strow from the Idaho Republican Party says what makes this inauguration unique is how many new people will be taking office.

"I think there’s some extra excitement this year because there are so many new elected officers," she says.

Ticketed events happening Friday include a Constitutional Officers Breakfast, Senate Republican Caucus reception and House Republican Caucus inaugural celebration.

Festivities will continue Saturday evening with the Governor’s VIP reception and dinner where seats cost $250, but both are sold out. The night will conclude with the Idaho Inaugural Procession and Ball at the Capitol Rotunda. Tickets are still available for the ball, priced at $25 for adults and $10 for youth.

"The tickets are much more affordable, so it’s not as exclusive as you might see in other states," Strow says.

Official inaugural after-parties are free with a ball ticket purchase and will be held at Capitol Cellars, 10 Barrel Brewing and Lucky Fins.
