Free ID gives access to students and others to vote

Voters are required to show ID when they cast a ballot. Accepted forms include: an Idaho driver’s license or ID card, a passport or federal ID, a tribal ID or a concealed weapons license.

Student IDs are no longer an acceptable form of identification.

Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane explained to Idaho Matters on Tuesday why they’re not accepted to vote.
