The complex process of updating FEMA maps

A hotter climate makes flooding more frequent and severe, and government flood maps aren’t keeping up with the change. Updating the Federal Emergency Management Agency flood maps is fraught, though, because acknowledging that a place floods can lower property values and require expensive insurance.
