Artist Celebrates Idaho's Untamed Frank Church Wilderness With New Quarter Design

U.S. MINT
Idaho's Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness will be memorialized in its own quarter beginning in November 2019.

Beginning late next year, one of Idaho’s most iconic landscapes will be memorialized on the back of a U.S. quarter in November 2019. It will depict the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Area.

The coin is Idaho's contribution to the America the Beautiful Quarters series, which depicts scenes from national parks across the United States and all five U.S. territories.

James Dawson spoke with the coin’s designer, Emily Damstra, about taking such a vast area and distilling it down to a canvas about an inch in diameter.
