Bike share company Boise GreenBike has been a partner of Treefort Music Fest for the last few years. This year, the organization is offering free rides up to four hours during the entire event, which runs March 20-24.
“If you’ve been to Treefort, you know that it’s a long distance from one end of downtown to another," says Boise GreenBike executive director Dave Fotcsh. "With the sets being as short as they are, you often miss out on some of the best music possible.”
24,000 tickets were sold last year and parking spaces were tough to come by. Fotcsh says a donation from KeyBank is making the free bike rides possible.
If bikes aren’t your thing, there will also be a free bus running on Main and Idaho streets between 14th and 4th streets, dubbed “the Treeline” bus. Valley Regional Transit will operate the bus from 6 p.m. until midnight the first four nights of the festival. VRT is working with Treefort to find bands willing to play music on the bus.
Fotcsh acknowledges they have competition this year: e-scooter companies brought services to downtown Boise last fall. He hopes the free rides will incentivize people to bike or bus.
