It seems Governor Brad Little has friends in high places. Not a day after telephoning country superstar Garth Brooks, the musician added a second performance in Boise.
Tickets to the initial Garth Brooks show at Boise’s Albertsons Stadium on July 20 sold out in less than an hour. In under 60 minutes, the stadium with a capacity in excess of 36,000 was fully spoken for.
With huge demand to see the iconic performer, the governor picked up the phone and gave Brooks a ring. Little said talking to the musician was a lot more exciting than what he normally does. He lobbied for a second Boise show.
It worked, and Brooks will now be performing July 19 and 20. His concerts at Albertsons Stadium will be the first time the huge sports complex has hosted a major musical performance. Boise State officials are expecting the shows to set attendance records.
According to the Statesman, it’s been nearly 30 years since the “Friends In Low Places” star passed through the region. Brooks sold out what’s now Taco Bell Arena – in 1992.
Tickets for the new Friday show go on sale May 31 at 10 a.m. Mountain time.
