Painting Class: Guided Gouache Landscapes

Fri, 9/23 - Creating Distance

Guided with Gouache Landscapes is a weekly workshop drop-in style class taught by professional gouache instructor, Jess Wagner. Take one class or take them all! We provide all supplies and each class has a different theme.
UPCOMING CLASSES:
Thurs, 10/6 - Composition/Setting the Scene
Thurs, 10/13 - Alpenglow Workshop
Wed, 10/26 - Water Workshop
Thurs, 11/3 - Desert Landscapes
Thurs, 11/10 - Gouache on Black Paper
Wed, 11/16 - Mountain Landscapes

What is gouache? Gouache (pronounced gwash) is paint that is somewhere in between acrylic and watercolor. It is water-based, has an easy cleanup, a unique look, and a matte finish. Never worked with it or heard of it? These workshops are for beginners and advanced students alike! These classes all have a “theme,” where Jess will be helping each student individually. If you’re new, paint along with Jess using the same reference photo. Got the hang of gouache or painting? Bring your own reference photo that fits the theme and refer to Jess when you get stuck.

Prior to each class, you'll receive a class introduction and an Intro to Gouache video to review before our studio date. At the beginning of each class Jess will review your reference photos, go over the supplies we have available, give the option to paint along with her or work on your own painting. We will spend the first 30 minutes going over the theme, looking at examples, and drafting small studies of our paintings. The last 2 hours are yours to paint your piece with guidance, as needed.

Jess Wagner is a self taught fine artist who is practicing full time. They attend fine art shows across the West, wholesale work to various places such as National Parks, Botanical Gardens, local shops, and national shops, and loves teaching. Gouache is a really fun, approachable medium and Jess hopes to share it with others! Jess aims to create a safe space in her classes, to leave worries and insecurities at the door and spend a few hours creating and talking with other like minded individuals.

This course may be rescheduled if a minimum of 2 participants are not enrolled. Scholarships for this and all of our other classes are available for those who otherwise would not be able to attend art classes, thanks to generous donations to our Art Start Fund.
