Sawtooth Salmon Festival

Sawtooth Salmon Festival
Please join Idaho Rivers United (IRU) and the Sawtooth Interpretive & Historical
Association (SIHA) for our annual co-hosted Sawtooth Salmon Festival in
Stanley, Idaho on Saturday, August 26th from 11am-5pm MST on Highway 75.
This free, family-friendly event is a celebration of Idaho’s wild salmon and
steelhead migration. During the migration some salmon will travel over 900 miles from
the Pacific Ocean to central Idaho, making the longest journey of anadromous fish in
the lower 48 states. IRU will be offering salmon redd tours again this year where the
public can take a bus ride to see salmon spawning in the iconic Salmon River, near
Redfish Lake. Tours take off at 11:30am, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm.
If attendees are interested in starting the salmon celebration early, join Kurt Tardy,
Fisheries Manager for the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, for a tour of the Pettit Lake Creek
fish weir and discussion of the Tribes’ sockeye recovery program in the lake - 10AM on
the road in to Pettit, right before the lake.
Salmon Festival vendors will be providing fun, family friendly interactive activities
centered around salmon at their booths. Live music and entertainment will go
throughout the day.

All proceeds benefit IRU salmon conservation campaigns.
