Woodblock Printmaking Class
Woodblock Printmaking Class
1 day course - Saturday, August 27 - 1-4pm
Learn to carve a block of wood, ink it, and create an exciting woodblock print in this hands-on, relaxed class. Not only will you create a woodblock print which can be used to create multiple prints, but the wood itself can be a beautiful work to display and alter into a new artwork. All experience levels welcome.
Participants will learn about positive and negative space, mirror image thinking and should be able to carve independently with sharp chisels after instructions on safe use. Professional artist and experienced teacher, Gretchen Weitemier, will be your guide. All supplies are included.
Optional items to bring with you:
- Layered clothing, as the temperatures may be difficult to manage in the building
- Water/beverage with lid
- A 6"x8" drawing to use as your design (designs will also be provided for inspiration)
Space is currently limited to 10 people per session. If a minimum of 3 participants is not reached, the class may be rescheduled. Open to ages 12+.
