May 09 Saturday
What grows in Idaho, and what does farming tell us about who we are? Find out during Family Second Saturday: Idaho Agriculture. Families of all ages are invited to explore the museum through interactive, self-guided activities highlighting the crops, landscapes, and traditions that have shaped how Idahoans have worked the land across the centuries. Participate in the Pot Your Own Plant craft, where you can plant and pot your very own seedling to take home! Explore our exhibits with an Idaho Agriculture Gallery Activity Sheet.
Drop in anytime between 12–3pm. All ages are welcome, and the event is free with museum admission!
This is an ongoing event every second Saturday of the month. Enjoy your visit? Consider becoming a member at the Idaho State Historical Society and enjoy access to the Idaho State Museum and other amenities. Learn more at https://history.idaho.gov/membership/.

Experienced clay instructor, Casey Gurr, will offer guided, small-group instruction for anyone interested in learning the basics of throwing on the pottery wheel. More advanced students are welcome to use this time to practice what they already know and try new tricks! After creating about 1-3 pieces, we will dry and fire their pieces for them. Most pieces are ready for pickup in 2-3 weeks.
