Five Idaho Thrift Stores Close In Southern Idaho

The Garden City Youth Ranch is the fifth store to close in the last few months.

The Garden City Youth Ranch on Chinden Boulevard closed Sunday, after holding a closeout sale over the weekend. The Idaho Statesman reports the building – which was built in 1986 on the busy thoroughfare – has already been sold.

The decision to shutter the location is one of five recent closures in southern Idaho. In total, five underperforming stores have closed  according to a company spokesperson.

The stores raise money for kids and families going through emotional or mental health issues. Many of the youth are employed at the locations.

According to the Statesman, employees at the Garden City store have filled positions at other Youth Ranch locations. But not all the employees at the closed Buhl, Twin Falls, Emmett and Blackfoot stores were able to do the same – though the company says they were made similar offers.
