It’s been another strong month for Idaho’s job market. The state added more than 1,300 jobs in April.
The addition of those jobs, coupled with about 100 fewer people unemployed kept Idaho’s jobless rate at 2.9 percent in April.
Over the past year, the number of jobs outside of farm work grew by 3.1 percent – the second-fastest rate in the nation, according to state officials.
During that time, natural resource jobs were far and away the biggest driver of that growth. Careers in construction, education and healthcare also saw strong gains over the past year.
More than half of the state’s counties had higher unemployment rates in April than the average – with several located in northern and central Idaho.
The national unemployment rate currently stands at 3.9 percent.
