Duane Nellis Likely To Leave His Post As University Of Idaho President

University of Idaho President Duane Nellis is the sole

finalist for the position of President of Texas Tech State University.

It was a typically quiet Friday afternoon at the University of Idaho in Moscow, that is until word spread, first by word of mouth and then by an official announcement, that Duane Nellis had been named the sole finalist for the job as President at Texas Tech.

Reaction, from Chris Murray, the UI Vice’s President of University Advancement: “He’s a very collaborative and charismatic leader, and he’s done a fabulous job for the University of Idaho, and we need to go out and find ourselves another Duane Nellis.”

The deal for Nellis to go is all but done. All that’s left is a 21 day waiting period required by Texas law and then a final vote by the Texas Tech Board of Regents.

In a statement released by the UI, Nellis said believed he would be completing his career as President of the UI, but that he did not expect to be presented with what he called “the unique and exciting opportunity that the Presidency at Texas Tech University represents.”
