A proposed $172 million bond to fund construction and improvements at schools across the Boise District easily passed in yesterday’s election. Officials say some of the building projects could be underway as soon as June. Many of the refurbishments and rebuilds planned by the Boise District are scheduled to be completed by fall of 2018.
Ada County Chief Deputy Clerk Phil McGrane told the Statesman turnout was light in the off-season election. As results were coming in, he said he expected around 15 percent of registered voters to cast ballots. With all precincts reporting, 24 percent of Boise voters passed the bond with an 86 percent majority.
Boise wasn’t the only area holding an election yesterday. Voters in the West Ada District approved a $160 million facilities levy while two financial measures were passed by Kuna District voters. They gave the green light to a $5 million supplemental levy and a $40 million construction bond.
The only bond measure to be defeated was a $20 million facilities levy proposed by the Vallivue School District.
