The president of the College of Idaho announced Thursday she’s stepping down from her leadership role. The departure comes as a surprise.
Charlotte Borst has filled the top job at the Caldwell college since being appointed two years ago. She was the 13th president of the liberal arts school.
In a statement, Borst says the time is right to pursue other opportunities in higher education and that the College of Idaho is ready to transition to new leadership. Former C of I President Bob Hoover is taking the reins a second time and serving as the interim leader of the college. Hoover, who led the school from 2003 to 2009, expects the search for the next president to take around 10 months.
Borst says she’s appreciated her time in Caldwell and is looking forward to more time with her family.
Borst’s unforeseen departure is the third to impact colleges around the state. Earlier this month, the head of Idaho State University in Pocatello announced he’d be stepping down in June of 2018. And to the north, the president of Lewis-Clark State College also said he’d retire at the conclusion of the school year in 2018.
