Two weeks after Boise State University President Bob Kustra announced he’s leaving his post at the end of the year, another top administrator is stepping down.
In a news release, Provost Martin Schimpf says he’s returning as a faculty member at Boise State at the end of the academic year.
Schimpf has served as provost since 2010, but joined the university in 1990.
He has held several high-ranking posts throughout his career, including chair of the chemistry department and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
According to the release, Schimpf has long intended to return to the faculty. He says he wants to spend more time writing and working directly with students.
A university spokesman says he anticipates an interim provost will be named in the near future before the school searches for a permanent replacement.
