The leader of Idaho’s second largest school district is retiring. Don Coberly started his career in the Boise school district more than 30 years ago. Wednesday, he announced he’ll retire at the end of the 2018-2019 school year in May.
According to Idaho Education News, Coberly graduated from Borah High School and worked his way up from teaching elementary students in the district. He took over for previous superintendent Stan Olson in 2010. Since then, the Boise district has seen success when it comes to test scores, graduation rates and higher education attainment.
The Boise School District Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting Thursday to accept his retirement and approve a plan for hiring a replacement.
