Enjoy the warm weather while you can. A cold snap is on its way to southern Idaho. It’s bringing snow to the mountains and cold temperatures across the state.
Valerie Mills is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Boise. “We will not be above freezing after tonight for the rest of the week,” says Mill. “Get ready for cold!”
The cold snap is coming in from southwest Canada. The 50 degree temperatures we had at noon are going away, Mills says, to be replaced by cold, rain, and even some snow.
“Here in southwest Idaho, we’re still warm and the rain will come in,” says Mills. “It probably will change to snow flurries or a mix, but we’re not expecting any accumulation in the Treasure Valley.”
However, in the mountains, snow is falling. “We’re already seeing snow at Brundage,” says Mills. “Banner Summit already picked up six inches, that was a report at 7 a.m. this morning and they’ll get some more snow before the colder, drier air moves in Tuesday.”
McCall may pick up an inch or two Monday evening while the West Central Mountains will see three-to-five inches today and another one to two inches tonight.
Mills says for the next five-to-seven days, the temperatures will be below normal and cold.
