A storm that will bring snow and frigid temperatures, is on its way to Idaho. The snow will come first, blowing into into Oregon this evening and into southern Idaho later Friday night.
"We’re going to get several inches of snow in most of southeast Oregon and in southwest Idaho," says Les Colin, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Boise."The Treasure Valley here will get about one to two inches.”
The mountains will see more snowfall. After the snowstorm, look for gusty winds, which will blow the snow around. Then the frigid air moves in Saturday night and Sunday morning.
“Most of the Treasure Valley will get to zero or even a degree or two below zero," says Colin. "I don’t think that any place will be warmer than five above anywhere on Sunday morning.”
The coldest temperatures should hit Harney County, Ore. A temp of -26 is forecast for Burns, and outlying areas could be even colder.
Colin says such cold temperatures are not normal for this time of year. He says there could be some record-breaking temps around the region Sunday and Monday.
This storm is coming from the Northwest coast. After it hits Oregon and Idaho, it will turn toward northern Nevada and Utah.
