The first International Dark Sky Reserve in the United States is located here in Idaho. Word came Monday evening officially designating the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve.

The 1,400 square mile area has some of the darkest skies in the lower 48 states. Steve Botti, the mayor of Stanley, spearheaded the effort to get the nation’s first dark sky reserve in Idaho. He sat down with Matt Guilhem to discuss the reserve and what it means.
