BOISE, Id – The Boise VA Medical Center received a top national honor Friday. The award comes from the Joint Commission, a non-profit group that accredits and certifies more than 19-thousand health care organizations in the U-S. The Boise VA was one of only twenty VA Medical Centers that received the award. Grant Ragsdale is the Associate Medical Center Director.
Grant Ragsdale “The Joint Commission that accredits hospitals they only acknowledge fourteen percent of the hospitals that they accredit with this award so it was a big honor for us to receive the award, it really acknowledges the quality of the work that’s done at the VA, specifically the Boise VA.”
The award is based on key quality measures, including improving heart attack care, pneumonia, surgical care and children’s asthma care. Only 405 organizations met the criteria.
Grant Ragsdale “It’s re-affirming to our staff, our clinical staff, our quality assurance staff, that we’re doing the right things and I think for our veterans it’s an assurance they have when they come to the Boise VA that they’re getting the kind of care they’re entitled to and that they deserve.”
One other Idaho hospital made the Joint Commission’s list, Saint Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls.
