BOISE, ID. – A District Judge issued death warrants today for convicted murderer Paul Ezra Rhoades. His execution is set for November 18th.
Paul Rhoades was sentenced to death for two murders that happened in Eastern Idaho in 1987. He’s exhausted his appeals. So there are few options left to prevent or delay his execution. The Governor could commute his sentence. And Rhoades lawyer filed a complaint in federal court on Idaho’s lethal injection protocol. Lamont Anderson with the state Attorney General’s Office says other things could come up.
Lamont Anderson: “Defense attorneys file things at the last minute all the time once an execution is set.”
Idaho’s last execution was in 1994. Before that, you have to go back to 1957.
