WWI Comes to Boise

BOISE, ID – World War I comes to Boise in the back of a semi-truck.  The “Honoring Our History” traveling exhibition rolls into Boise Sunday.  It’s part of a 75 city tour put on by a financial planning company.   Bryan Scamman is with Waddell and Reed.  He says the company has close ties to the first World War.

Bryan Scamman “The company’s founders, Chauncey Waddell and Cameron Reed, they both served in World War I and the national World War I Museum is located in Kansas City which is where our headquarters is.”

As part of its 75-th anniversary, Waddell and Reed built a traveling exhibit for a customized, 18-wheel, “big rig” truck.

Bryan Scamman “That includes 66 artifacts, like weapons, tools, equipment, uniforms, flags, posters, there’s gonna be a walk through trench that simulates the war environment.  There’ll be video and audio, headlines and historical descriptors, and even flight gear from Chauncey Waddell himself, including his flight suit, goggles, and a log book.”

The exhibit is free.  You can find the truck in the parking lot of the Idaho Military History Museum next to Gowen Field in Boise on Sunday from 8 to 2.
