Idaho Power Co. Chief Executive Officer J. LaMont Keen is retiring at year's end, to be replaced by the company's chief financial officer. Darrel Anderson will step in for Keen Dec. 31.

The state's largest utility made the announcement on Thursday. In a press release, the chairman of the board of directors of IDACORP and Idaho Power, Robert Tinstman, said the company is grateful to LaMont for his more than 39 years at Idaho Power. Keen has led the company since 2006.

Keen will stay on both companies’ boards of directors after he retires. “He will continue to help guide the companies, just in a different capacity,” said Tinstman.

Keen acknowledged that a transition timeline is now in place. “Retiring from ‘active duty’ will be a big life change, but I am looking forward to the opportunities it presents,” he said in the company release. “I rest easy that I am leaving IDACORP and Idaho Power well-positioned to succeed in the future under a highly capable leadership team. Darrel and I have worked closely together for many years, and I have full confidence in his leadership.”

Anderson began working for Idaho Power in 1996, serving as vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer, vice president of finance and as a controller.

He has a degree from Oregon State University in accounting and finance.

Idaho Power serves 504,040 customers in a service area that includes southern Idaho and eastern Oregon.

It gets electricity from dams, coal, gas and solar.
