Meridian Deli Lets Customers Pay What They Want

A restaurant in Meridian hasn't just cut prices, they've eliminated them, allowing customers to pay what they want for their food.

KTVB-TV reports that the Bread of Life Community Deli allows customers to pay what they can, and if they can't pay anything they can still eat.

Deli owner Cameron McCown says about 60 percent of customers pay market price for their food, about 20 percent pay more and 20 percent pay less than market price or nothing. Some customers volunteer as workers to either pay off their meal or in addition to their money.

McCown says he uses a line of credit on his house as a safety net in months when ends do not meet, but that generally he believes the shop will stay afloat.
