An Idaho woman says an increasing number of abandoned pets been turning up near Lake Lowell between Nampa and Caldwell.
KTVB-TV reported Monday that Melissa Blackmer, who lives near the lake, has rescued 40 cats that she found in the area in the past year.
She says she can tell that they were pets because they are friendly and walk up to humans unlike stray cats.
Blackmer has launched the Lost and Found Pets from Lake Lowell Facebook page where she posts pictures of the rescued cats in hopes of reconnecting them with their owner or new homes.
She believes there may more abandoned cats in the area and is looking for volunteers to help with her rescue effort.
The group is also asking for donations through an online fundraising campaign.
