If You Need A Driver's License, There's Good News At Idaho's DMV

Ada County Sheriff's Office
People wait at the Ada County DMV to apply for or renew a driver's license.

If you need a driver's license, there’s some good news from the Idaho Department of Transportation. After a rocky launch several months ago, new software for processing licenses is working well. Wait times at motor vehicle offices may be as short as five minutes, and employees are again working regular hours.

Jennifer Gonzalez with the IDT tells Boise State Public Radio News that the state is back to normal with no service interruptions.

If you need a license, Mondays and Fridays tend to be the most crowded, while Wednesdays and Thursdays are less busy. In addition, at Ada County and Kootenai County offices you can schedule an appointment online.
