It’s been two weeks since the Boise Police Department began investigating a missing persons case involving 18-year-old Sierra Bush. Since then, very few details about the case have been released publicly.
Bush is a freshman engineering student at Boise State University. According to her stepfather, Bart Green, Bush lived with him and her mother until this summer. After graduating from high school in May, Bush moved in with her biological father in Boise.
“Sierra was in good spirits, she was happy, she was enjoying school," says Green. "Everything was going great.”
So it came as a shock when the family learned that Bush had gone missing. The Boise Police Department began investigating her disappearance. But Green doesn't think Bush is a runaway – and that instead she has been abducted. He declined to give reasons for this suspicion, saying that doing so could compromise the police investigation.
Green says some of his step-daughter's friends started a Facebook group to get the word out about her disappearance. But as the days drag on, the fear of what harm his step-daughter may be facing becomes heavier. He says it's even more difficult on his wife; Sierra is her only child.
“Worrying about whether she is alive or not and worrying about what may be happening to her," says Green. "It is as bad and as painful as you might imagine it would be.”
According to Boise Police Department spokesperson Haley Williams, detectives are still considering Sierra Bush’s disappearance a missing person case and not an abduction. To report information about the case, Williams says to contact the police at 208-377-6790.
