A north Idaho man will spend at least 10 years in prison after he shot a pastor in Coeur d’Alene and threw flash drives on the White House lawn.
In 2016, authorities say Kyle Odom meticulously planned for weeks the attack on a pastor at a church in Coeur d’Alene. The former Marine shot pastor Tim Remington six times in the head, hand and side in the parking lot outside his church in front of friends and family and then fled the scene.
The Coeur d’Alene Press reports Odom sent a manifesto to news organizations that said he was being tormented by mind-controlling martians. He then traveled to the White House where he threw flash drives onto the lawn, hoping to warn others of what he saw in his mind. He was arrested and later pled guilty to aggravated battery.
A judge said this week that Odom must spend at least 10 years in jail with another 15 years possible.
Pastor Remington says his body is full of shrapnel from the shooting, he has memory lapses and ongoing health problems. He told the newspaper that his hand feels like it’s in a deep fryer every day. But he forgives Odom for what he did and says Odom is the real victim.
