What Does This Sound Like? Bob Boilen Bets You Won't Know

It's happened again. We played a song on our show that clearly reminds me of another tune. But this time the stakes are higher. If you're the first person to guess the song that I'm thinking of, I'll invite you to a live Tiny Desk Concert taping and I'll buy you lunch. It's a safe bet for me, because I don't think anybody will get it.

So here's the top of the tune called "Generals" by the Mynabirds from this week's show.

In 1988, a determined Bob Boilen started showing up on NPR's doorstep every day, looking for a way to contribute his skills in music and broadcasting to the network. His persistence paid off, and within a few weeks he was hired, on a temporary basis, to work for All Things Considered. Less than a year later, Boilen was directing the show and continued to do so for the next 18 years.
