Wallace Roney, Following in Miles Davis' Footsteps

Miles Davis just might be one of the most revered and most imitated jazz musicians ever. But Wallace Roney hold the distinction of being the only trumpet player Davis ever personally mentored.

Evidence of that royal jazz legacy is hard to miss on Roney's latest CD, Prototype. In a conversation with The Tavis Smiley Show producer Roy Hurst, Roney acknowledges his great debt to Miles Davis -- but says he resents being written off as a copycat.
