Idaho Health Official Shares Latest Info On Flu Deaths, Coronavirus

Niki Forbin-Orr

An increasing number of Idahoans are dying of the flu this season, according to health officials. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare confirms that, as of this week, there have been 12 flu-related fatalities this season. Additionally, flu is the suspect in the deaths of three Idaho children.

Morning Edition host George Prentice spoke with Dr. Christine Hahan, Medical Director of the Idaho Divison of Public Health, on the latest flu statistics, the effectiveness of this year's vaccine and the latest information on the coronavirus that is threatening China. The first U.S. case of the potentially deadly virus was confirmed Tuesday in Washington State.

"We are seeing flu all around the state. Kids are getting sick, adults are getting sick, all over."
